Ciro Guerra, a renowned filmmaker of Colombia will become the new jury president for the section of Critics Week at the latest Cannes 2019 Festival. However, along with Guerra, festival authorities have appointed a few other leading personalities as jury members. These are Amira Casar, a leading female actor of French-British, Marianne Slot, a French producer, Djia Mambu, the critic and film journalist of Congolese and director and Jonas Carpignanon, known popularly screenwriter of Italy. The jury will give away the grand prize of Critics Week for the best feature, rising star award for the best actor or female actor and discovery prize for any short film.

Guerra made four different features and shorts, while she had explored many questions of identity and society in his Columbia city. Currently, he is associated with post-production work on Waiting for the Barbarians movie, while is the adaptation of a novel written by J.M. Coetzee. The screen also broke the updates related to Jonny Department’s involvement in the respective film during the last year’s Cannes Festival. During that time, Robert Pattinson and Mark Rylance had also remained in the cast.

Critics Week of the Cannes Festival 2019 will be the 58th edition of Critics Week scheduled from 15th of May to up to 23rd of May. The complete program and list of items for the respective section will be highlighted on 22nd of April, while the program will announce about its official selection of the jury president on 18th of April.
