Well, it may come as a surprise, but yes, Everyone has some belly fat. But too much belly fat can affect your health in a way that other fat doesn’t.

It is displeasing and embarrassing, but what is important is that it has a long term effect on health. It is indeed tough to lose it, but some changes in the lifestyle can solve this issue to some extent.

It is very tough to reduce, if the person is found to be really obese. But strong determination and sacrificing pizza and other fast food items can lead one to get slim waistline.. Don’t lose heart, keep on exercising daily to shed extra fat.

There are a few reasons which leads to gaining belly fat:

  • Owing to Genes
  • Weak metabolism
  • Stress
  • Eating habits
  • Posture

It can be reduced by going through the following tips:

  1. What all to eat?
  • Whole foods, namely whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread etc.
  • Good fat, oil like olive oil, flax seed oil
  • Only 1 fruit a day, and before 12 noon.
  • Take a good quality multivitamin/mineral a day
  • Snack on a small amount of almonds (5 at a time) throughout the day
  • Eat tofu, Beans, and Legumes’
  • Eat low- fat dairy products like cottage cheese , plain yogurt etc.
  1. What all to drink?
  • At least 1 protein drink a day (skim milk Preferable)
  • Drink lots of green Tea (in the morning) and eliminate all the  juice as they are high on sugar , diet and regular soft drinks. Drink only 1 cup  of coffee a day if needed.
  • 1 cup of warm water with lemon is highly advisable.
  • Drink lots of water throughout the day and with all meals
  1. Natural remedies:
  • Coconut oil is to aid your efforts in losing fat. ( 2tbsp. Is sufficient).
    Caution: do not add coconut oil to the existing cooking oil used on a daily basis
  • Green tea: 3-4 cups of green tea on daily basis. Ensure it is made fresh every time or to get an iced green tea, once can store it in the fridge.  Honey can be added as per the taste (optional). Green tea accelerates metabolism.
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 tbsp in our daily diet can help to increase metabolism. It can be used in various forms i.e., beverages, on the top of the toast, can be sprinkled on salad, dips, sauces etc.
  • Garlic cloves : garlic has anti obesing properties. Raw garlic is very useful. It can be used in preparing dishes. It can also be chewed along with lemon water
  • Ginger tea: a ginger daily can also aid our efforts of losing belly fat.
  • Fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acid content breaks down fat and for vegetarians  CHIA seeds can be used . It can be used in place of fish oil
  • Cranberry juice or cran water atleast once a day can help reduce fat
  1. Change in lifestyle:

Besides following these remedies suggested above, it also requires some little changes so that effective results can be seen.
