Summer is almost over and mrs. Fall and mr. September are waiting around the corner. Slippers will be replaced by rubber boots, sandals with UGGs and ALL STAR with CAT. No more crop-tops or flip-flops. No more ice-cold coffee, ice creams and popsicles . Pink becomes orange, blue becomes navy blue and neon green becomes olive green. Even though it can be painfully cold, something about autumn makes everything feel so warm. Is it the hot coffee (you can now finally drink) from your favorite cup you got for your birthday a decade ago? Is it maybe that one special plushy blanket you curl up into every day after work? Or perhaps it is the most common autumn garment of them all: a sweater.

In a last few years, knitwear has evolved a lot. Earlier, you had only 2 kinds of sweaters: the Christmas and the non-Christmas ones. Now, you can find them in all shapes and sizes, which is great because it allows you to completely personalize your own sweater outfit.

Sweater dresses

Probably the chicest way to wear knits. You can pair them with some monochrome sneakers, but also with some cool boots. You can wear them during the day and also during the night. They are like the little black dress of sweaters.

Cardigans

Cardigans have made a breakthrough lately. The best thing about them is that there are no rules for combining them. Wear a woollen tank under the cardigan, or a long-sleeved shirt. But be warned though, you don’t want to have a heatstroke, so be careful with that layering and also with the thickness of your cardigan.

Turtleneck sweaters

This glorious type of women’s knitwear is my personal favorite. Long-sleeved, short-sleeved or no-sleeved, turtlenecks have always been a score. Besides the fact that they look so majestic, they also do a great job at protecting you from cold. A little piece of advice: if you want that New York urban-chic look, put on some sunglasses and tie your hair on top of your head in a ponytail and voila.

Poncho

2

Those cowboys sure knew what’s good. Ponchos are around for 2 centuries now and they are planning to stay here at least 2 more. They are the best choice if you don’t have time to make a lot of effort to look neat and stylish, because you still end up looking super cute. There is no explanation – it is just the power of ponchos.

Chunky sweaters

With these ones, your options are limitless. You can wear them with jeans, you can wear them with skirts or you can wear them half tucked with any type of trousers you want. These sweaters are simply adjuring you to experiment with them.

Prints

If you are not a monotonous person and you just have to add some colour in every outfit, these sweaters are perfect for you. There are all kinds of prints available, so it is up to you to choose the one you like. It is also our duty to warn you: be careful with bottoms, you don’t want to look like a clown, do you?

One colour sweaters

Every closet HAS has to have at least one unicolour sweater. You know those cold days, when you stand for half an hour in front of your closet, having no idea what to wear and then poof – it magically appears to save the day.

Oversized

You either like them or you don’t, there’s no in between. Wear your skinny pants, black leggings or mini skirt, put on some cool boots, let the wind do your hair and congratulations – you are ready to own the city streets.
