The U.S. Apparel market is worth $292 billion.

The film industry will be worth $50 billion by 2020.

We all love good movies, and we all love good fashion. So why not combine the two?

Watching fashion movies is a great way to get ideas for what you want your wardrobe to look like. So move over Rhett Butler, we’re watching to drool over the clothes.

Let’s start with the classics.

Gone With the Wind

The burgundy ball gown complete with ostrich feathers. The velvet and gold green wrapper that shows Scarlet’s wealth. The blue Peignoir Scarlet’s wearing when your “Bonnie Blue” falls off her horse.

These are the dresses that made Scarlet O’Hara who she is.

But nothing is as significant than the green velvet dress Scarlet demands her nursemaid to make out of the curtains. Inspiring girls everywhere to look at their own window treatments in a new way.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

We cannot talk about cinema fashion without mentioning the movie that basically invented the little black dress.

A black dress and pearls are staples in every girl’s closet ever since Holly Golightly donned them in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

If only we could all be as classy as Audrey.

Clueless

While not the most poignant piece in cinema history, we do have to admit that Clueless defined 90’s fashion.

Knee-highs, large white collars, and Calvin Klein dresses were the items every teenaged girl lined up to buy after this movie debuted.

And let’s not forget the plaid. Rumor has it that 53 different types of plaid were used to outfit the cast.

The Devil Wears Prada

This is not just a movie that features great fashion, it defines great fashion.

I mean, Meryl Streep looks amazing in anything she wears, but this show puts her over the top. Her looks are graceful, timeless, and dignified. It’s basically every woman’s goal to dress like Miranda Priestly as she ages.

And let’s not forget Andie. Her style transformation throughout the movie is inspiring. Giving hope to all of us fashion-challenged working girls.

Atonement

Once in a generation, a movie will come along that has a dress so bold and beautiful, women of all ages will be dying to get a replica.

Cur Kiara Knightly’s emerald gown in Atonement.

This show-stopping dress created a mini-culture of green gowns the following season. Many actresses wore similar dresses to award ceremonies while retailers sold simpler versions to consumers.

Ocean’s Eight

Um…hello? a movie that stars the biggest female actresses known in Hollywood. Of course, this movie is going to showcase some amazing fashion.

Considering there are 8 main roles, you have 8 different personal styles to get inspiration from for your own personal style. From Rhianna’s Bob Marley-inspired style to a Sandra Bullocks’s very tailored style, Oceans 8 has it all.

And let’s not forget the Gala. These lovely women were dressed in all the major couture designer: Givenchy, Valentine, and Prada to name a few.
